Essential 32-bit No. 03: Essential Jim
Earthworm Jim, 1994
Action/Platformer, Meda Drive
Developed by Shiny Entertainment
One of the best, funniest run 'n guns of the time and, in fact, ever. Queen Slug-for-a-Butt remains one of my favourite enemy characters of all time.
This sentence, pilfered from Wikipedia, summarises perfectly why Earthworm Jim has earned a special place in my nostalgia:
"The game plays out with Jim eluding and defeating all enemies, and saving Princess-What's-Her-Name. However, not only does she not return Jim's affection, but she is also crushed by a random flying cow."
